Completed in 1992, the Center services a wide area of the San Fernando Valley and outlining cities. On weekends this Center supports a large
number of athletic activities taking place throughout the park area.
The design is based on early California forms with a block pattern found in Romanesque designs. A mix of forms surround the large, clear-span
gymnasium, which can be viewed as a small collection of buildings brought together by a tower that spans both sides of the entrance. Interiors
were kept Spartan with the idea of being able to use circulation spaces as activity areas. The major space, gym, and stage were designed for
maximum use and flexibility. As many as 4 Basketball Games can be played at the same time without interfering with stage activities.
